Hello,
I am Dr George Obaido


George Obaido is a Research Fellow working with Rediet Abebe, where he is studying data related challenges at the Berkeley Institute for Data Science, at the University of California, Berkeley. George Obaido completed his PhD in Computer Science in 2020 at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He also obtained his MSc in Computer Science from the University of the Witwatersrand. His research interests lie in using machine learning to finding solutions to many societal problems.


He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of computer science, particularly in the Data Economies and Data Markets Group of the Mechanism Design for Social Good - a multi-institutional initiative using techniques from algorithms, optimization, and mechanism design, along with insights from other disciplines, to improve access to opportunity for historically underserved and disadvantaged communities.
